Weekly Round-up from Wolves Central NHT Team 2

Good Morning Resident,

Here's a quick round up from me and the rest of the Wolverhampton City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Whats Been Happening.

  • Night Time Economy - Another weekend came and went with our officers patrolling the city, This week they carried out pub walks, firstly focusing on Violence against women and girls(VAWG) and then continuing to be a constant night-time presence throughout the evening.
  • Crime Prevention - This week our Police Community Support Officers James and Sam held a community surgery within the Wulfrun Centre, It was lovely seeing you all out and about. They engaged with several people who voiced their concerns for not only the city centre but the wider area. These issues will be passed on to the relevant neighbourhood teams.

  • Arrests - This week our officers were out bright and early carrying out some arrest warrants, these led to 2 arrests being made for prolific shoplifters within the city centre. 2 further arrests were made with regards to quite a large £2000 theft from one of the retailers in the city, A big well done to all our PCs and PCSOs for their combined effort in bringing these 2 individuals to justice.
  • St. Peters Gardens and Wolverhampton Uni - Our PCSOs spent some time carrying out knife sweeps in these areas this week, due to the high amount of Anti-Social Behaviour within these two locations and the bushes within the Gardens its an easy place to dispose of Sharp implements, whether this be blades or even syringes. As public safety is a high priority these knife sweeps are essential. Thankfully on this occasion nothing was found.
  • Guardian Patrols - Going forward we are continuing with our guardian patrols within the city centre which aim at providing a heightened visual police presence at certain times of the day. This week we found new information that could be vital for some ongoing investigations.
  • What to Watch - As i reported last week, the street sellers are still around and we are doing our best to deter them from loitering around Dudley Street. This week we have seen not only the Perfume Sellers but also individuals trying to sell Balloons. Please do not give these individuals the satisfaction of taking your money.

Events - This coming week our PCSO's will be in the Central Library for an ASB surgery, we will be there on Monday 10th March from 1pm to 3pm, this will provide a good opportunity to come and have a chat with us.

We have taken on board feedback from some of the WMNow members and we are looking in to providing some more surgeries at weekends so they are more accessible to people that work during the week.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, Stay Safe and have fun.
